A collection of my fathers portraits. He takes pride in not having an e-mail address, using digital equipment, no advertising and no websites. He’s classic and old fashioned. His studio remains today  in the Historic D&F clock tower building.  He shoots photos that’s a lasting image to stand the test of time. Like Rembrandt paintings. His frames are gold leaf and the prints are mounted on canvas. He earned his master of photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America, a fellowship degree from the American Society of Photographers and is a Fellow in the British Institute of Professional Photography. Today in his 80’s he still takes portraits using only a Hasselblad camera.

Hundreds of people snaked through Austin’s Convention Center on Monday for Tommy Avallone’s film, “The Bill Murray Stories” that examined the legendary stories that fans have recounted over the years, of Murray showing up in random places at random times: from doing the dishes at a random college party, to bartending at the Shangri La, to posing with a couple taking engagement photos, and reciting poetry to a team of construction workers.

Avallone interviewed those with a Bill Murray story, paid homage to Murray as an individual, and looked closely at what brings these stories together: the overarching purpose of why exactly he decides to pop up where and when he does. Not only did Murray give these people experiences to hold on to and share with others for the rest of their lives, but he gave them special attention, and a genuine curiosity in their life. 

Instead of humanizing celebrities, Avallone explores a different idea: humanizing the fans. By including himself in authentic moments and situations, Bill Murray allows the world to regard him as a person, and not just an actor. He removes himself from narcissistic fame and glory, and actually chooses to ignore it.

After I lost my father last May, I gained a new best friend named Argo. He was my dads show dog. He’s 110 lbs, jumps on counter tops to eat food, he eats rabbits and geese. Each day is an adventure and I never know what trouble he’s going to get into next. Argo’s  a lot of work but he’s worth it. 

I found this photo today in Argos book. Unfortunately, today I need to find him a new home ASAP. He’s 7 years old and I need someone to rescue him. We had a problem in our neighborhood and it’s kinda my fault b/c I had him off leash and he got into a fight with another jerk dog and mayor of our town is giving me little time to find him a good home.  Any takers?
